SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR THE CLASS OF 2010
 

Listed below are some local scholarships that will be available throughout the school year. Deadlines will be posted as soon as the information is sent to the Guidance Office. Deadlines for these scholarships are listed in chronological order.

Wendy's High School Heisman Award
  • One female and one male winner
  • Based on excellence in academics, athletics, and student leadership
  • Have at least a "B" average
  • Participate in at least one high school sport

SAE 2009 Engineering Scholarship  
Alumni Legacy Scholars Award

USC does have certain scholarships that students must apply for SEPARATELY from the entrance application process.

  • Close family member who is a USC alumni AND have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • At least an 1180 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT
  • Contact the Guidance Office for more details

American Legion Oratorical Scholarship
  • 8-10 minute speech on any phase of the US constitution
  • Winners will receive $3500, $2000, $1000
  • Contact the OPS Guidance Office
 
South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation
  • Have a 2.75 on a 4.0 GPA scale
  • Must attend an accredited South Carolina four-year college
  • Have a competitive or recreational interest in golf

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund

  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Combined SAT score of 1800 or a composite ACT score of 26
  • Parents' adjusted gross income must not be above $40,000

  • Minimum 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Involved with agriculture or with any agricultural organizations

NFIB Young Entrepreneurs
  • Minimum of 400 scholarships ranging from $1000-$10,000 each/some renewable!
  • Demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit
  • An official established business is NOT required
  • Merit based, not financial need-based

Ron Brown Scholar Program
  • Must be an African American high school senior
  • Receive $10,000 per year for each of the four years attending a four-year college

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and Washington Savannah River Company
  • Must be a child of employee
  • Awarded Spring of 2010
  • Call Cathy Kirby at (803)952-9805 for an application
  • Complete the SAT Reasoning Test AND 3 subject tests of their choice
  • Code to complete the SAT registrations is 3703
  • SAT tests must be completed by January 23, 2010
 
Orangeburg Touchdown Club
  • $1000 scholarship
  • Must be a graduating senior of an Orangeburg area high school
  • Good moral character and reputation
  • Must have 3 letters of recommendation, including an administrator, a teacher, and a community leader (one from each)
MUST BE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 29TH BY 5:00 P.M.
McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and have owned and operated your own business while in high school
  • Business must have one employee

Junior Service League
  • Must meet 2 of the 3 following requirements:
  • Achieve at least the SC average on the SAT or ACT
  • Ranked in the top 25% of their graduating class
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0

Crumley Roberts Crib to College South Carolina Scholarship Program
  • Awarded to 5 high school students who attend school in counties in and around the Greenville, Spartanburg, and Columbia city areas
  • Must plan to attend a 4-year accredited college
  • community involvement, extracurricular activities, and a written essay
  • Three recommendation letters
  • Transcript
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

Erskine Presidential Scholarship
  • Must apply online for ADMISSION to Erskine AND also complete the online Presidential Scholarship application . BOTH of these must be completed and submitted by February 16th!
  • If your student is still making up his/her mind about where to go to college and/or would be open to attending Erskine, it surely wouldn't hurt to try for it!

South Carolina State Fair
  • Awarded to 50 seniors ($2000 college scholarship
  • Opportunity to reapply for ten more
  • Basis of need, academic scholarship, extra curricular achievement, communication skills, and on aptitude for completion of the application
  • Copies of the application and directions can be picked up in the Guidance Office or downloaded at www.scstatefair.org
 
Thomas Raysor Summers Post 4
  • Scholarships are in the amount of $250
  • Applications available in the Guidance Office

Alpha Zeta Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers' Sorority
  • $1000 scholarship
  • Information available in the Guidance Office

Bobby Chapman Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
  • May or may not be a golfer
  • Must be a full-time student in Fall 2010 planning to achieve a baccalaureate degree
  • Good character with demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Have acceptable academic promise
  • Maintain at a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in college
  • Priority given to Junior Golfers who demonstrate financial need
 
Pilot Club of Orangeburg

Virginia Blount Johnson
  • Pursuing an RN in nursing
  • Minimum $500 scholarship--higher amounts may be awarded based on academic performance

SC Teachers Loan Scholarship
  • Must have at least a 2.75 on a 4.0
  • At least the state average on SAT/ACT (985/19.9)
  • Enrolled in a program of teachers education
  • Available in the Guidance Office or
  • Apply online at www.scstudentloan.org
 
Edisto Clemson Club
  • Must attend Clemson this fall
  • One scholarship per county
  • $500 scholarship
  • Awarded to a student in Bamberg County, Orangeburg County, and Calhoun County
